We left on Thursday the 26th and drove about 9 hours before we stopped for the night. I sat in the middle row between the girls to help keep them entertained on the drive.
Our sweet kindergartner spent the longest time coloring in her Melissa and Doug princess coloring book. She does such a great job!
A few hours later :)
Our 3 year old spent a while working in her sticker book too!
We went to dinner after we checked in to our hotel and Christopher caught the end of the Badger game. Yay for a win!
These two were being best sisters as they waited for us to load the car on Friday morning.
Love this luggage! ;)
All of the Sonic's in our area went out of business so I had to get a slushie when we stopped near one! They seem to still be all over the South. The blue raspberry was so good!
I caught the boy who never naps sleeping in the back. ;)
We upgraded our phones the Monday before we left. (After 3 1/2 years, yay!!) The Iphone 6 takes amazing pictures. Our 3 year old took this one through her window as we were driving. I was impressed! Our 5 year old asked if we might see Boogie Foot (must be Big Foot's cousin ;) ) in all the trees as we drove. Ha ha!
The kids got their first glimpse of the ocean as we drove and thought it was so cool to see this ship.
We've arrived in Orange Beach!! :)
Saturday morning we looked out the balcony and saw a pod of dolphins swimming just off the shore. It was so so neat! It was hard to get a good picture but it was a great way to start our first full day there!
Beautiful view off our balcony.
Looking down the beach.
Saturday was only in the lower 60's at Orange Beach. We went to breakfast at a yummy local restaurant called Another Broken Egg Cafe. We ordered a kids chocolate milk for each of the kids and this is what our waitress brought them! They were thrilled of course. ;)
Yum!
Daddy had to help our 3 year old.
We decided to go to the beach even though it wasn't the warmest! This is our hotel from the beach. :)
First time at the ocean for these three!
The boys getting their feet wet in the ocean.
The girls wanted to take their turn too!
Momma and her girls!
Orange Beach had the most beautiful white sand.
The cooler temperature didn't seem to bother the kids at all!
Look Mom, I found a sea shell!
They tried to make a river in the sand.
I think they were "catching" a wave. ;)
We spent most of the time in the sand. The kids thought it was so much fun getting their legs buried!
Christopher made our 5 year old a mermaid's tail. ;)
Little sister had to have a turn.
Toes in the sand
Toes covered in sand ;)
Our 3 year old can drive her older brother completely crazy, but other times they play really well together. She was more than happy to help him pile sand on his legs.
This one made me laugh. ;)
Being in the sun apparently wore these two out!
While they were napping I gave this girl what she called "party hair". ;) The maid was cleaning our room as we came back from the beach and she thought they were called "mermaids". She was close. ;) And we were by the ocean after all.
Ready for mini golf and dinner!
I thought they looked so cute in their jean jackets waiting to leave.
We went to Adventure Island mini golf. It was definitely the most fun mini golf course I have been to!
I was going to take a picture of the girls in their matching outfits and our son wanted to be in the picture too! (He normally complains about all the pictures I take) ;)
She is really improving at mini golf! Not that you can tell by her silly stance.
The hole at the top of the hill in the background was a little scary with young kids!
Our threenager is so stubborn! She would not let anyone show her the correct way to hit the ball. She used one hand and basically batted at it every time. ;)
Hole In One!
The girls
And the boys. The kids loved the volcano in the background but were also nervous that it was going to erupt. ;)
After mini golf we had dinner at Hurricane Grill and Wings. It had mixed reviews online but we really liked it! I felt like our 5 year old was so well behaved on our trip! I think it was partly because she spent so much time coloring. She always strives to do her best so she takes her time.
Her little sister is still learning. ;)
Playing in the sun and skipping a nap caught up to this sweet girl at dinner. She could not stay awake! I didn't mind though. I miss these snuggles!
I didn't want to make this post any longer than it already is so I will post about the second half of our trip tomorrow! I had already planned to share our vacation pictures today and realized it's also Show and Tell Tuesday; show and tell about your favorite vacation ever. Perfect timing! Head over to Momfessionals to read about other favorite vacations!
