Poetry with Parents

Our son has been so excited about doing Poetry for Parents this morning with all the other 1st graders at his school. They sang two songs and gave us a sweet gift and then we had delicious cookies for a snack.

All the first grade classes on stage! I got teary eyed during their first song, "I Learned From You". I am so emotional lately! In my defense, here are the lyrics:

I Learned From You

Ooh, yeah I didn't wanna listen to what you were sayin'
I thought that I knew all I need to know
I didn't realize that, somewhere inside me
I knew you were right, but I couldn't say so
And I can take care of myself
Yeah, you taught me well

I learned from you that I do not crumble
I learned that strength is something you choose
All of the reasons to keep on believin'
There's no question, that's a lesson,
That I learned from you

The next song was "Happy" by Pharell Williams and they did some fun, upbeat hand motions. :)

"Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof, because I'm HAPPY"

They found their parent(s) and gave us each this sweet gift. I had to take a picture of my flower because I generally don't have much luck keeping plants alive. Apparently I am a cooker, a cleaner, and a lover as well as a helper and a hugger.  Ha ha!

Even though it was a short program, I was happy I was able to go. Thank you so much to my step-dad for keeping the girls on just a couple hours sleep!

Sarah and her son :)

Love these crazy guys!

I wanted to post our son's Dive into Summer story so I can be sure to add these things to our summer to do list. :)

The radio station we listen to on the way to school has a segment where kids call in and tell jokes once a week or every couple weeks and our son said if he told a joke he would tell one of these:

"Why did the hero flush the toilet?"
Because it was his duty. ;)

"What do you get when you cross a Smurf and a cow?"
Blue cheese! ;)
