Louisville

We had the best weekend! We got to Louisville about 4 on Friday and got settled in to the hotel. Our kids had been asking all week, how many days until the hotel? They wanted to go to bed about 5 on Thursday so they could wake up and get to the hotel. Ha ha!

Silly girls with spaghetti hair before we left. :)

I saw these snacks on another blogger's favorite things and had to try them! Perfect snack for traveling. They are so good!

She set up her toys in this little ottoman to play when we got to the hotel. So sweet. :)

We knew that Brad and Jacinda and their kids wouldn't be coming until later because their older 3 had school on Friday. The area our hotel was in was an outdoor mall area with quite a few restaurants. One of the restaurants was Olive Garden, a favorite of mine! We used to eat Olive Garden a lot but hadn't been there in probably a couple of years so we decided to have dinner there.

Love their berry sangria! And these two kiddos. :)

Brad and Jacinda got a late start and then got stuck in traffic twice on their way. They ended up getting to the hotel at almost midnight and our kids were bummed they didn't get to see them on Friday. Our 4 year old finally fell asleep about 15 minutes before they got there! They were so excited to see them on Saturday morning and we decided to go to the pool first.

Daddy and our three non-swimmers. It makes swimming with them a little more challenging but they all had fun. :)

5 of the 7 of our kiddos swimming.

We weren't sure it was going to be warm enough to do the zoo like we had planned, but we waited until about 2:00 and the sun was shining. It was a little chilly but really a beautiful day. None of us had been to the Louisville Zoo so it was fun for us all to experience it together. Jacinda's husband and I are the only ones of our group that aren't in this picture. You can just see our 4 year old's leg in front of her Daddy. ;)

Brad and Jacinda's 9 year old and our 7 year old looking at the rhino's behinds. Ha ha!

Our older two and Jacinda's baby looking at the wart hog. Really kind of an unfortunate looking animal.  Hakuna Matata. ;)

The giraffes at this zoo were a darker color than the ones we have seen at other zoos. I wish I would have paid more attention to what kind of giraffe they are.

They had these huge insects and such all around the zoo. Creepy!

Our son watching the elephants. We love our local zoo but it doesn't have some of the bigger animals so it is fun to see them at other zoos.

Poor girl slept for about 10 minutes in the car on the way to the zoo so she was a little cranky at first. I love that I captured this expression on her face though. I get it a lot. ;)

Our sweet girl by the camels.

The gorillas were indoors when we were there and they were interesting to watch.

Brad and Jacinda's 9 year old and our 4 year old became quick buddies this weekend. :)

This sweet baby girl was so laid back all weekend. She rarely cried. Of course she had no shortage of attention! ♥♥

Our 2 year old was a total Daddy's girl this weekend! She wanted him the entire time we were at the zoo. She's at a very exhausting age right now so I tried to give him breaks, but she wanted her Daddy!

Another neat animal that we don't have at our local zoo.

An attempt at a family picture. Jacinda took it for me with my camera phone and the lighting was not good! I'm hoping she got a better one with her big fancy camera. :)

Our 7 year old is really interested in snakes right now! His Mom is hoping he finds a new hobby soon. ;)

First time I've seen a white alligator, or was it a crocodile? I can never tell!

Another snake!

Our 2 year old loves turtles. She was telling this one, "come here turtle" in her sweet little voice.   Most of the bigger animals she kept telling, "go away".

We had already decided to have dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse after the zoo. Christopher saw it on Friday and really wanted to try it. Brad and Jacinda's family had eaten at a Longhorn before and loved it, so that was an easy choice. I'm so glad Jacinda asked Brad to take a picture of the two of us while we waited to be seated. We had a delicious dinner, even though our older two kids chose a Kraft mac and cheese kids meal. ;)

There was also a Cabela's in the same center and none of us had been there before so we went in to look around after dinner. Our family isn't really in to hunting or fishing, but I have heard they are neat stores even if you don't hunt or fish. I'm glad we went in to see what it was like.

All 7 of the kids by the big fish tank. They had some interesting fish in there! Our 2 year old was sure the fish were going to get her so she wasn't about to stand with her back to them. ;)

Love these kids!

Christopher and Brad and Jacinda's son discussing the animals. ;)

We didn't get back to the hotel until after 8 but our 4 year old was so excited to hold the baby! She had been waiting and waiting to meet her and was so sweet with her. She wanted to walk by the stroller all through the zoo so she could be near her. Jacinda and I caught her smiling the biggest smile at her at dinner when she was across the table. Melt my heart! ♥♥

We went to Bob Evans for brunch on Sunday morning and it was really busy!  We had to wait a while for 11 of us to be seated and we ended up being at tables next to each other but not together.  I borrowed the baby for some snuggles while we waited for our food.  I'm having a really bad hair day but the baby looks cute! ;)

It was such a nice weekend.  It was great for our family to take a mini vacation and it was so nice to see Brad and Jacinda and their kids.  My heart felt so happy and full all weekend!  We weren't even half way home before our 4 year old said she misses the baby (and the rest of the family). ;)  I was feeling the same.  I'm so thankful we were able to meet up and spend time together.  Let's do it again soon Jacinda!  Love y'all!
