Thankful

We don't really do Black Friday shopping around here.  We have plans to visit a local festival of trees today while everyone else is shopping or recovering from shopping. ;)  This morning I'm recapping how we spent our Thanksgiving.  I was thankful to be able to volunteer at our kindergartner's Thanksgiving Fun Day on Tuesday. Thank you to my brother Robert and his girlfriend Clarissa for watching our 3 year old so I was able to volunteer. I love helping at the school and getting to know the other kids in her class a little bit more.

There were stations set up in each of the four kindergarten classrooms. I was in charge of a simple station where the kids cut the words of a sentence and glued them in order to say, "I am thankful for turkey" and then they colored the turkey. Our sweet girl was so happy when she and her partner got to my station!

She told me as she sat down that she had been crying in one of the other classrooms because she missed me! It broke my heart that she was sad. She seemed to cheer up after spending time doing the stations in the classroom that I was in.

They were all paired up with a partner from a different classroom than their own.

I love this girl! I am so thankful to be her Mom.

They must have used these outfits they made in the afternoon. She said she chose to be an Indian even though a lot of her friends were pilgrims. ;)

She brought a bag home full of Thanksgiving activities she did at school! She's cute as an Indian or as a Pilgrim.

On Thanksgiving Day we didn't have to be at my Step-Dad and Mom's house until 4 so we had a laid back morning. Our 5 year old looked adorable styling one of my infinity scarves with her pajamas. Ha ha!  I love love how these sweet sisters were hugging as I took their picture.

We wanted to celebrate the October and November birthdays in our family as well as Ken and my Mom's 20th Anniversary. I was in charge of the cake. This carrot cake from the Wal-Mart bakery was delicious! I worked really hard on it. ;)

This was the first holiday we celebrated in the new family room part of Ken and my Mom's pole barn. The room worked out perfectly for dinner and for playing Sing Star on the tv and cards at the table. Christopher was the photographer for this one.

Grandpa Ken and the six wild turkeys! ;)

Ken, Mom and the siblings

Mommy and two of her three little loves!

My Mom made Ken his favorite pie for his birthday. I laughed when I saw him eating out of the pie plate with a fork. I guess he's the only one who likes butterscotch pie. ;)

Some of the kiddos played cards.

Others, like this sweet girl, played Legos.

When she got tired of playing Legos, our 3 year old took my phone and was playing photographer! I probably deleted over 30 before I took this picture. ;) #likemotherlikedaughter

She also took this one of everyone playing cards and singing karaoke.  I'm not sure if the picture was actually supposed to be of her hand? ;)

We were happy to have our youngest brother home from college! Even if he isn't cutting his hair or shaving. Ha ha! #noshavenovember

Sisters!

A little Thanksgiving funny. My kids are big Minion fans!

I am trying to remember this not only at Thanksgiving, but all year long!  I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving with loved ones!!

Have a great weekend!
