Splash House

Earlier in the summer, I saw a couple of friends on Facebook post about taking their kids to a splash house a little less than an hour from us. As summer is winding down, I've tried to squeeze in a lot of fun, but fairly inexpensive outings. I talked to my Step-dad, Mom, sister and brothers about taking a little bit of a road trip and trying out the splash house. They all said yes and we worked out a day that almost everyone could go.  It is difficult to plan around so many work and school schedules!

The cousins range in age from 2-10 so it can be hard to find something to do that they all enjoy, but this place had something for everyone! We started with the wave pool. The guys were all looking forward to it, except for our son. In these pictures he is not sure he wants to go in! He has never been in a wave pool before so he had to "test the waters" for a minute.

I don't know for sure what made my Step-dad laugh so hard in this one! I think maybe our 2 year old's reaction to the waves. You can't really see her but she is holding his hand. By the end of the day, our son was asking to go back to the wave pool. He ended up spending quite a bit of time there with Grandpa by his side and he loved it!

They had a fun kids area for the younger kids. I love this picture of the three of them!

Uncle Travis was going to take the girls up the stairs so they could go down the slide, but we found out they had to go up on their own. Our 4 year old didn't want to walk through the water spraying down on the stairs, so she wouldn't go! And our 2 year old is too little.

This kid though, loved the slide! I lost count of how many times he went down it. He did get our 4 year old to go down the slide with him once, but she didn't seem to like it. Maybe by next year!

There was a huge bucket at the top of the splash zone and once it filled with water it dumped. Our son loved it! I was surprised he liked getting soaked like that, but he did! :) Our 2 year old would play in the little fountains at the edge of the splash zone until she heard the whistle letting everyone know it was going to dump. Then she would run out of the water and point at the bucket and say "no no no". Ha ha!

Cousins!

Our girls relaxing with Grandma. Our 4 year old got pretty wet once when the bucket dumped and she was not happy about it! We couldn't get her back in the water too much after that, except to go on the lazy river with Grandma.

We were there for about an hour before it started to rain. I kept hoping it was a quick shower and would pass over, but it did not. It rained the rest of the time we were there. It wasn't too bad because there was no thunder or lightning and we were already wet. ;) We still ended up staying about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of the adults and big kids going down the water slides or any pictures of the lazy river, because I didn't want to get my camera wet! We were missing a few people, but it was great to have a fun family day! We will definitely be going back next summer!
