A Thanksgiving Play

I think November was a fun month in kindergarten. Our son's class practiced a lot for their Thanksgiving play and the parents were asked to write down three different occasions when our kindergartner did something kind for a loved one. With each act of kindness sent in to school, they earned a feather that they got to wear in their hat in class. His acts of kindness were: getting his baby sister her favorite stuffed animal and giving her get well kisses when she got hurt, helping Mom by clearing his plate and the rest of our plates from the table at lunch, and helping his 3 year old sister get her jacket off when she was struggling to get it by herself.

The parents were also asked to come up with a Native American name based on an event that happened near their birthday. We chose "Ball of Fire" because on the night he was born a comet passed over part of the United States and he was certainly a "ball of fire" as a baby! They also wore their hats during the performance.

You can just barely see our Puritan Man in the plaid shirt on the left side of the picture.

A little closer up.  The Puritan Men said, "big and brave" as their line in the play.

There are four or five kindergarten classes and they nearly filled the gym!

We didn't know as we were choosing our seats what side of the gym our Puritan Man would be on and we chose the wrong side. We couldn't see his face through most of the performance, just the feather in his hat. :/

Getting instructions from his sweet teacher after the play is over.

And I can see his face!

A wave for Mom, Grandpa, Grandma and his baby sister.  We were happy to have Grandpa and Grandma join us for the play.

They had a project to do this month that was a "family homework" assignment.  They were asked to decorate their turkey any way they wanted; with tissue paper, noodles, buttons, crayons, markers or whatever they came up with.  Daddy came up with the idea for the tissue paper feathers.  It turned out great but it took FOREVER!  It was a fun project to work on together though. :)

We have so much to be thankful for this year and every year!  Happy Thanksgiving!!
