Weekend Getaway

We spent the weekend in the capital for a little getaway. We went on Friday night and stayed downtown. The new stadium was right behind our hotel so we had a close up view of the construction on the stadium.  Saturday morning we went to the zoo and we learned that a Saturday at noon is a BUSY time to visit the zoo! It was a little hectic with all the people and the heat, but we had a good time and saw lots of animals!

Saturday night we met up with one of my roommates from college, Emily, who lives in near the capital. Her and her husband Adam and their daughter met us at our hotel and we ate dinner at Champps (their Rockstar Martini's are GOOD!) then we all went to a baseball game. Their daughter is 11 months older than our little guy so they are at an age now where they had fun playing together. We had lawn tickets to the game so her and our little guy could run around and play during the game. They had fun sharing our little guy's goldfish and her cotton candy and interacting with the other kiddos nearby. It was great to see them all and to catch up, the last time we saw them was the beginning of February and now Emily is 6 months pregnant with a little boy (due October 21st, right Emily? I've had to ask her at least 5 times). ;) We're so excited for them. What a great weekend!!

We had to let our little guy have his "fier" (his word) by the end of the game. He normally only gets it at nap or bed time or in the car but it was getting late. Only a couple more months until the "fier" goes bye bye so enjoy it while you can! (We plan on trying to take it away completely around his 2nd birthday... we'll see how that goes). Right now he would have it 24/7 if we would let him so it might be a little challenging! He loves his "fier"!
