The kids were out of school on Friday for a teacher in-service. They stayed overnight with my Step-dad and Mom so Christopher and I could take a little road trip. Ken sent me this picture of them exercising with Grandma. ;)
Friday night at rush hour is probably not the best time to try to get to downtown Chicago but we made it to the Blackhawks game in time! We even had time to get a mai tai before the game started. ;)
Blackhawks got the win!
The drive home on Saturday morning was pretty scary! There were white out conditions and accidents everywhere. We were so thankful to get home safely and celebrate Valentine's Day with these sweet faces.
My Mom took the kids shopping to buy small gifts for Christopher and I last Saturday and they could not wait to give them to us! I love my gifts and the thought that went in to them. :)
I loved that our son got Christopher a bag of Baked Ruffles. We love chips around here. ;) The funniest thing is, our son ate the entire bag!
She wanted me to take her picture with the heart and candy she picked out.
The kids got a few little Valentine's gifts too. Our son loved his new book. And I love to see him reading!
Both of the girls got a Melissa and Doug sticker book and they have played with them so much! It's the little things.
They each got a Hallmark Christmas ornament too. Wrong holiday, I know. ;) They were 75% off at Hallmark and I was able to find one for each kiddo so I couldn't pass them up!
Our sweet kindergartner had a little bit of a stomach bug on Saturday, but she seemed to be doing okay by dinner time. We hadn't planned to go to Bandido's but they were about the only place that was not busy so that is where we ended up!
She had to do what her big sister did!
It made our kindergartner so happy that I wore the necklace she got me to dinner.
We picked up a bottle of this delicious wine for a Valentine's Day treat. Yum!
The kids and I had plans to take a little road trip of our own on Sunday to visit a college roommate that we haven't seen since the summer. We had to reschedule because our 5 year old was still dealing with the stomach bug. The girls spent most of the morning telling stories with their stuffed animals.
She said the only good thing about being sick is that she gets to drink "Sprout". ;) The only time our kids normally get to drink soda is when they steal sips of mine. Ha ha!
She loves her new Elsa doll!
And little sister loves Anna (and Olaf). :)
This guy is convinced he needs his own phone so he can play games on it. Not at 8 sweet boy!
They shared this at church on the 8th and I saw it again on facebook. Love!
Have a great week!!

I love getting away for sporting events! But the drive home I bet was scary! The weather was horrible here too! I think I heard on the news there was a 15 car pile up on 71 not far from us :( We of course ventured out in it and made it back safely....and then went back out for dinner. The roads and winds went as bad then :)
Such sweet Valentines from your kiddos!
It was fun and much needed! But yes the drive home was so scary. We were thankful to make it safely!!
The kids were so excited to give us their gifts! Their excitement makes holidays even more fun. :)
