I don't normally set a lot of goals at the start of a new year. After reading through the goals set by some of my favorite bloggers, I was inspired to link up with Andrea and set some of my own for 2015!
Stay organized and declutter declutter declutter!
After spending part of 2013 and nearly all of 2014 in a cluttered rental, I've realized more than ever that I’m someone who needs things to be clean and organized to function! I believe it's nearly impossible to organize clutter, so I need to really working on getting rid of excess.
Control my words and my reactions.
Growing up, I feel like I was one of the happiest people you could meet. I was always having fun and being silly. Although I think a lot of that changes as you get married and have kids, I can't say that I am happy with who I have been the past couple years as far as how I react to stressful situations. I react in anger and use words that I shouldn't. I bought the book Unglued by Lysa Terkeurst a couple of years ago and I plan to actually read it this year and to focus on only using language that I would be okay with my children using!
Put more focus on God.
I started 2014 strong, reading Jesus Calling and the Bible every night. I'm not sure what happened exactly, but I stopped reading and we also didn't go to church nearly as often as we should have in 2014. It is my goal to start reading Jesus Calling and the Bible again and to attend church regularly. We went about once a month on average in 2014. We can do much better!
Be intentional with friends.
Continue to have play dates and also focus on having girls nights a little more often!
I love having play dates. I love being able to chat with a friend while our kids play, and I hope to continue to do that in 2015. I also want to be intentional about scheduling time with my girl friends. I have friends that I've known for a couple years that I consider close friends, but we have never gone out without at least one of our kids! That is going to change this year. I think that time is so important for Moms!
Spend time with the kids unplugged.
I feel like as a Mom, there is always something on my to do list. And when I do have a free minute, I find myself playing around on Instagram or Facebook or texting. I hear about it all the time... that I'm on my phone too much. I'm going to make an effort to be on my phone a minimal amount in the afternoons when the older kids are home from school. During the week I really only see them from 4-8. I think I can handle putting my phone up and really focusing on them during that time.
Work on getting up, showered and ready before the kids get up for school.
If I'm not up and showered before the kids get up for school, there are lots of times I spend the day unshowered, wearing my yoga pants and comfy clothes. I want to focus on getting up before they do and getting a good start on the day! I always feel more motivated and ready to take on the day if I have my makeup on and my hair done.
And most importantly, I want to ENJOY 2015!
