Kindergarten Creations

We are a few weeks in to the school year now and Kindergarten is going well! There are days at drop off when I can tell my guy is feeling a little sad to leave, but he always has a good day.  I have to admit it tugs at my heart watching this boy who in my mind still seems so tiny walking in to this huge school.  I get tears in my eyes pretty often as I am driving away, especially when his sister says she doesn't want him to go. :/

He hasn't had much homework so far but he brings home loads of papers and craft projects!  On Thursday they made Mickey Mouse headbands.  They did activities from the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie this week.

Mr Serious face next to a  few of his latest creations.  A tree based on the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, a friendship tree made with his fingerprints, and his own coconut tree and alphabet that he's made at home about 100 times. ;)  I love seeing his imagination and creativity coming out more and more.  He tells us he is really good at art. :)

He has never been the kind of kid to spend much time coloring.  Even in preschool last year I could tell he rushed through a lot of the coloring on his projects and didn't make much of an effort to stay inside the lines but he has improved so much!  I love that he and his sister sit at the table and color and draw together now.  We have mailed out several of his coconut tree drawings to family members. :)  I think both he and his sister have Chicka Chicka Boom Boom memorized.  It's such a fun little book.

I loved this letter from my boy!

A couple more pictures.  The "I like to" picture he is bowling, playing tee ball and swimming.

I am not sure what to do with all of these papers he brings home.  I hate to throw them away!  All of his preschool papers are in a 3 ring binder and his crafts and projects are in a storage tote for now.  I think I will do the same for his kindergarten stuff until I come up with a better system.  I like the idea of taking pictures of them and then scrapbooking (or blogging) them so it isn't necessary to keep the papers or projects.  That will probably be what I do when I have a little more free time.  For now, I think the binder and tote will have to do.

We are so happy that the school year is off to a good start!
