It's a SNOWMAN!

Our little guy had a late start in his speech development. I have always been a little bit concerned that he was behind in that area, but he does talk (plenty!) and he knows so much! He is still hard to understand at times though, especially to people who are not around him all the time like we are. I decided to go ahead and have him get a speech evaluation and we did that this past Wednesday. The evaluation was mainly a book of pictures and the speech therapist asked him to tell her what each was a picture of. He knew most all of the items except a few- one he didn't know was a witch. The speech therapist said it's something a girl might dress up as for Halloween and he said a SNOWMAN! Ha. After that he kept goofing around and saying SNOWMAN for lots of things, but then would say the correct answer. The speech therapist said he's actually using sounds that some kids aren't able or expected to use until they are older so that's great but she said clarity in conversation is not where it should be so she does think he would benefit from speech therapy. We will have a case conference at the end of the month and he will probably start therapy once a week in the fall.

After the evaluation he and Mommy went to the park and played- just the two of us. I think it was good for both of us. I have been able to tell lately that he needs some one on one time. His baby sister is in to everything and needs to be watched constantly so I know we probably don't give him as much attention as we would like to. We had fun at the park and then went to McDonald's for lunch. It was great to spend the morning with my little man! He has such a special place in this Mommy's heart.
