I always kind of hate to hear people say, oh the kids grow up so fast. Maybe partly because I hate how true it really is. My baby boy is almost 5. How did this happen? It truly feels like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital. And here we are 5 years and two more babies later. This handsome guy started preschool on Monday!
Sorting his supplies in to the bins. This germophob (is that a word?) Momma loves that bin of gigantic hand sanitizers. :)
Anyone who knows our little guy knows that he has always been a cling to Momma or Daddy's leg shy kind of kid in a group of people he doesn't know well. Before I became a stay at home Mom, my Mom and step-dad babysat for us so he never went to daycare. Once I became a stay at home Mom I tried to have play dates every week or two; we did book buddies at the library and he went to a Friday Friends program once a week at a local Y but I was still so anxious about how preschool would go!
He has completely surprised us so far! He has had great days and has been excited to go back. I could not be more thankful. I know it is going to be wonderful for him socially and academically even though his sisters and I miss our little pal! I fully expected lots of clinging and tears the first week or two but so far he has been tear free (can't say the same for Mommy on the first day, but I did wait until we left his classroom!). We unloaded his school supplies, hung up his bag, and he sat down at a table across from another little boy and started playing with some plastic trucks. He said Mom I'm going to have a great day!

My favorite first day story was that on the outside playground he was pretending to be a snake and chasing the girls, but not the boys because they weren't frightened. I love that he used the word "frightened". I guess the girl chasing is going to start early at this house! He also told me he went from the yellow table to the blue table to the red table (I'm thinking they have some kind of stations?) and that he looked out the window for the teacher and said the weather is "good". Haha I assume because it was sunny. Of course snacks are also a big topic of discussion. The first day was goldfish and he was excited and said he had to have his water refilled twice and the second time he remembered to say please. :) Tuesday was library day and it was no surprise he came home with a Thomas book. As Daddy says, he knows what he likes. I love hearing all about his day each time we pick him up! Mommy loves you so much little man. You continue to amaze me and make me so proud with the way you are growing and learning every day!
