Girlfriends

I have loved being on maternity leave. Not only have I been able to be home full time with my little man and my precious baby girl but it has also given me more opportunities to get together with my girlfriends. It's hard, at least for me, when you work full time to find time to spend with your family and time to maintain close friendships in just the two day span of a weekend. I stayed home the majority of the first six weeks of my maternity leave but the second half we have been much busier. Last Monday we got together with three of my college friends and their kids with a surprise visit to Miranda's house. She's pregnant with baby #2 and has been having lots of medical issues so we thought we would surprise her and go visit for the day. We now have five, soon to be 6 kids, between the four of us so it was great to get everyone together. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures. The kiddos and I also saw another friend, Sara, and her two boys at a local fair this Tuesday for kids day. Again, no pictures.

One of my very best friends from high school who lives in Colorado now has been in town visiting so we've been able to get together with her and her kids a couple of times. We haven't seen each other since two summers ago so it's great to catch up! They all came to our house yesterday and even brought lunch. I feel so blessed to have friends like her who even though you may go a long time without seeing each other, you feel like you pick up right where you left off. The pictures below are from yesterday... with the exception of my little bubble blower. I didn't get any pictures of her during their visit because she slept the majority of the time but I couldn't leave her out.

It is so nice to hear stories from other Mommy's. It helps to know that your two year old isn't the only one who has taken up whining and fit throwing as two of their favorite pastimes, who won't eat their veggies, who is resisting potty training, and that you are not the only Mom who worries if their kids are developing "age appropriately", if they're walking soon enough, talking enough, and the list goes on. I thank God for each and every one of my friends and the different ways they have and continue to touch my life.
